How to re-orient a tool with subtools?

Hello,

I’m pretty new to ZBrush 3.1.

I sculpted quite a complex PM tool - human figure - with multiple subtools appended .
After some use of the transposing tool - rotate and move - on the main figure, I ended with a model which has a wrong orientation, and it doesn’t snap at the right angles on the workspace. This is pretty annoying even right now when I’m still modelling: I have to do a lot of tweaking, rotating and moving it every time to get it in a normal standing position, and, I believe, would be an issue too when I will be ready for the final rendering.
My question is: is there any way to re-orient the whole - tool and subtools - definitively so it will snap, with shift pressed, at the right angle and standing position on my canvas?
Hope having been clear and sorry for my not very good english :o

Really thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

You need to adjust all the subtools by the same amount - but there’s an easy way to do this:

  1. First back up your model and make sure it is in Edit mode and with the top subtool selected. Move the Tool palette to one of the trays so that it stays open and click on the Tool:Preview submenu so that you can see the Preview window.

  2. Press the Macro:New macro button to start recording a macro

  3. Click and drag in the Tool:Preview window to change the orientation of the top subtool so that it faces forwards.

  4. Press the Tool:Preview:Store button to store the new position. The subtool will update on the canvas.

  5. Stop Macro recording by pressing Macro:End Macro and save the macro to a subfolder of the Macros folder. Make sure the filename has 8 or more letters. Press Reload All Macros if the new button doesn’t appear.

  6. Now you can select each of the remaining subtools in turn. Press the new macro button and the adjustments will be made.

Hi Marcus,

A BIG thanks:D

I knew that there are really nice guys around here…

This evening I will give it a try, but I’m sure, knowing you from your postings in the forum, that that’s the solution!!

Thank you again,
