How to quickly make grids with ZSpheres?

Is there a quick way to make grid-like structures with ZSpheres?

I need some way to do this so I can send the tool to a colleague who can then use 3.5 to paint ZSpheres2 on the base grid I build in 3.2. Armature brush won’t work in this case because the grid can not be meshed, just the painted ZSpheres need to be meshed. Unless there is some magical way to paint with the Zsphere brushes on actual geometry (which I couldn’t find) this is the only thing we can think of that will work for our project.

Any info will be appreciated as manually doing this could waste hours given the scale of what we need to build. Best I could think of was trying to use symmetry when adding and moving ZSPheres but the complexity of the grid would make it difficulty to use symmetry.

Thanks

you guys just don’t like answering my questions, huh?

I tried creating the grid like you would retopologize the mesh with ZSpheres in Rig mode, however, the system needs to be connected to the original ZSphere “point”. For some reason this has disappeared from my scene.

I made a new scene with a polymesh sphere just to try it out. Again my master ZSphere point has disappeared. When I zoomed out, I noticed it reappear, so I selected it and connected it and was able to convert to main.

In my main scene, no matter how I navigate around my tool I cannot find the initial ZSphere point. Is there an easy way to locate it?

I even tried rebuilding the scene, and the ZSphere point would sometimes fly far away from the rest of the points without me touching it and even though it was connected to the rest of the ZSphere rigging points.

Any thoughts on how to get this working right? I’m using ZB 3.2
