how to prevent masking happening on the inner part of a folded mesh

Hi Guys,

I have a question about masking…i am trying to mask out a belt around the outer face of this mesh, without masking through the skirt behind it. do i have to cut that lip part off as a separate polyground and hide the rest, or is there a way of drawing on the mask without effecting the mesh behind it?

But access to this menu when you are pressing ctrl, that means that it will be the settings of the masking and not a normal brush
