How to not affect boundries of plane?

Hello,

i got a newbie question.

How do you keep the boundries of a plane without being affect by the brush?
I want to create a tilable texture which is not possible when the edges of the plane keep moving in z and x direction.

In mudbox you have settings in order to only effect the y axis (depth)
How can i achieve that in Zbrush?

cheers.

You can set the axis in the Transform>Modifiers submenu but note that currently the brush alphas have no effect when only one or two axes are selected, so sculpting is basically like the Standard Brush.

Although you could mask the edges of your plane and so preserve them, for a tileable texture you may find the best method is to use Projection Master. This will mean the full range of alphas and 2.5D brushes is at you disposal without affecting the xy edges of the plane.

See here for more on Projection Master:

Note: in ZBrush the Z axis is forward/back, X is side to side and Y is up/down.
