How to Move Objects -- Move tool with action line very frustrating

Hey guys…really hoping for some help here. I am all ready to finish a model I’ve been working on but I can’t get it put together.

It’s composed of three main parts. A body, and 2 weapons.

I need to merge the objects but I can’t get them into position. This is what I’m doing…

  1. Load main tool

  2. Subtools -> Insert, to insert the second tool

  3. Scale tool to bring second tool to correct size

  4. Move tool to position it

The problem is, the move tool just seems to orbit around my main tool. I can’t seem to get my second tool any closer to it.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

Thank you.

Turning on ‘Ghost’ plus ‘Transp’ buttons will take away any influence from other subtools.

Thanks ZBer2. I had both on, and it didn’t seem to make any difference. When I import the second tool, it makes it huge, much larger than my primary mesh. So I have to scale it down a lot. Then, when I go to move it, it won’t get any closer to my main mesh. It just moves around the canvas.

Is there any easy to combine two separate meshes, or should I just plan to sculpt everything in one piece from here on out?

Thanks

Not quite sure what you mean here.

This is not a good idea. It is very limiting as to how big the ZTool can be, detail wise.

You should check out Understanding The Action Line. Make sure you follow the links at the bottom of that page also.

I think I know what my problem is. I hope. In my noobishness, I didn’t know about markers.

ZBrush is a very strange program…but the more I learn about it, the more elegant it seems. Here’s to hoping markers solve my problem.

Thanks for the link…I will read.

I somehow think that that is not what you are after. I could help you more if I knew what you meant by “it won’t get any closer to my main mesh. It just moves around the canvas”
