how to make transparency work

hyo,
i am trying to find out how to make sphere transparent so,s i can see the Iplane below,
when i goes into transform>transp. is grayed out, will this only work between sub tools’ is there another way to lower the opacity on a sphere, because im using layers to make my Iplane not subtools?
thanks i realize that im doing alot of taking here at this forum, when i have something to give i will gladly do it ,:ex:

As far as I know transform>transp only works with sub tools. And I havent found any transparent material or any other way. And I did look around the forums if there was a way and havent come across one yet.

Good luck.

Thanks Curtis, if i find a way i will post it here,

If I understand correctly, you want your model to be transparent so you can see the reference image thru it? If you are on a PC then you can use the Image Plane plugin (see Download Center). This has a slider for changing the transparency of a model in Edit mode.

If you are on a Mac you can still change the transparency of a model in Edit mode:

  1. Switch off Edit.
  2. Adjust the RGB Intensity slider to about 40.
  3. Switch Edit back on and continue sculpting.

HTH,

Thanks Marcus
