How to layout UV maps of several subtool???

Hi.
I am currently make a arm armor. It has 7 subtools of metal, leather, chain, else…

I could unwrap UV maps of each subtools by UV master. But after that, How can I combine all of the uv maps of separated subtools??? By using UV master, a uv map of a subtool layouts on all map.

I would like to arrange my 7 uv maps on a single UV map.

Temporaly, I did it by Maya repeatly importing and exporting. It spent a lot of time…

When I use multi map exporter, the all 7 maps are overlayed, because it had only unwraped one by one…

Thanks in advance!

After using UV Master, use the flatten option that is part of the plugin. This will give you a preview of what the UVs look like along with a reference grid. If you use transpose to scale/move/rotate the UVs in this state, it should update once you unflatten them. You’ll need to merge the subtools together first however. If they already have UV seams you wish to reuse, be sure to have Tool:Subtool:UV button active. Alternatively you could automatically create polygroups based on the UVs.

You can use Transpose Master to help with this.

  1. Make sure the Transpose Master>Grps button is OFF. This means that there will be one polygroup for each subtool in the combined mesh.
  2. Press the TPoseMesh button. This will merge all your subtools at their lowest subdivision levels.
  3. Now use UV Master to create UVs. Make sure the Polygroups option is ON.
  4. When the UVs are done press the Tool>SubTool>Groups Split button. This will break up the combined model into separate subtools.
  5. Start with the top subtool and press Zplugin>UV Master>Copy UVs.
  6. Now switch to your original model, select the correct subtool, and press Zplugin>UV Master>Paste UVs.
  7. Switch back to the tool that has UVs, select the next subtool and copy the UVs. Repeat (5) and (6) for all the other subtools.

When you’ve done, all your UVs will occupy the same UV space without overlapping.

Cryrid,

I don’t think your method will work because UV Master automatically scales the UVs to make best use of the available space…

Thank you so much !!!

I’m going to try immediately!

Ahh, I was unaware UVMaster did this across subtools, that’s a bit annoying then. If that’s the case, I’ll append to say merge first.
