How to keep brush in Zsub from pushing through other side of tool?

New to ZBrush. What a fascinating program. I’m used to standard 3D programs and when you get a hole in a mesh you just bridge it. Takes about 2-seconds to do so.

I’ve been experimenting and doing a lot of tutorials and when I’m using a brush in Zsub mode, say “Displace”, if the tool it not very thick the brush will push through the other side. I’ll then get holes. I just watched a video about fixing holes and it’s about a 20-minute process to fix the hole so I’m wondering, with all the parameters ZBrush has, is there one that stops a displacement when it reaches the other side so you don’t push through?

I appreciate that. I searched for oven an hour to no avail. The Zbrush Reference Guide, while nice to have, fails where a lot of these kinds of documents fail. Unless you know “exactly” what terminology to use when searching, you’ll come up empty.

Over time we usually end up having read these documents in their entirety but they, not just ZBrush, need to do a better job of including common vernacular and or typical usage descriptions in these documents. That way inexperienced uses will have better search results. I like having good technical info because as we learn these programs we do want to know the nuts and bolts of how everything is calculated and evaluated.

Generally the descriptions are so technically specific that after reading the first reaction is, “huh.” Granted, after using the program for awhile that gains clarity. But a Reference Guide should be like the one Rhino has. They’ve done an excellent job.

I look forward to my continued ZBrush education. It appears to be very powerful. Thanks again for steering a noob.

Regards…
