How to insert a negative mesh with Dynamesh? - Answered

Do you use the ‘insert mesh’ button in the Geometry palette? I tried holding the ALT key in every way I could imagine but I could only get an additive mesh.

I also try using the ‘Sub’ button. It only adds. Seems to do the same thing as ‘Add’.

  1. Draw a sphere on the canvas, turn on ‘Edit’ button and click ‘Make Polymesh3D’.
  2. Turn on ‘Dynamesh’ button in Geometry subpalette.
  3. Select one of the Insert brushes from the brush palette.
  4. You can select what ever mesh you want to insert in the Brush > Modifiers submenu by clicking on the mesh selection icon.
  5. Hold down ‘Alt’ and draw the shape on the sphere. At this point, you can use transform Move, Scale and Rotate if you want.
  6. Hold down "Ctrl’ and drag twice on the canvas.
