HOW TO INCREASE POLYGON NUMBER?

How can i increase the number of polygons on an object in zbrush so that i can apply a texture more finely.is this called 'resolution".Is that the term for polygon number(i really want to know)? In any case I just want to be able to apply a texture using texture master so that when i export the model and apply the texture it wont look choppy.

I may be way off base with my answer because I am more accustomed to seeing people ask how to decrease poly’s.

But if I understand you, you have a model you want to export with MORE poly’s. Would not DIVIDE, under Tools>Deformations>Divide do this? It increases the number of polygons, but are you sure this is the problem?

May want to wait for someone else to answer, or try with the model you do it to saved as a different tool name so you can come back and do it again if it does not work right.

Good luck

Hi JUSTNPROUD,

Tools>Modifiers>Deformations>Divide, to up the ante of your mesh.

Then just create a new texture at a nice resolution to fit your needs.

Come on Frenchy Pilou, ya too slow today Bro!

A higher number of polygons will not result in a better texture. The key to putting more details into the texture is to use a larger texture size so that there is more room per polygon on the texture space.

You only need to divide the mesh if you wish to increase the number of sculpted details. This in turn results in a “heavier” model, which will slow your other program down a bit.

As a general rule, 20% of a model’s quality comes from sculpting. The remaining 80% is in the texture.

I take it your ‘General rule’ will be the opposite way around with the new version?

…there i go again, i won’t mention the new version again…
