How to import project containing many subtools?

I’ve made a robot made from several objects in 3ds max. I’d like to send it to zbrush for adding some details. What is the best way to do this? I’d like to have several tools (or subtools?). I know how to import single tool and put it into zbrush’s canvas, but I have completely no experience working with many tools/subtools. Should I somehow assembling it in the zbrush scene from scratch? Or I can import object already separated for many subtools.

Please provide some detailed solution or tutorial treating about this.

You have a lot of options. But i believe you will need to have all your pieces as subtools in the same Tool. You can do it with GoZ plugin. Or if you have it already in separate OBJ you can MultiAppend all the OBJ as subtools in a single Tool.
Zplugin>Subtool Master>MultiAppend Then select all your ZTools and/or OBJ and will be appended into the same Tool as subtools

hope this helps

I’m trying to export from 3ds max 2010 to zbrush 4r6 by GoZ, but zbrush freezes. 39 objects is too many? Should I reduce that number? Because total 1,1mln polygons should be fine, right?

When I finally exported it to zbrush, most of elements (subtools) was disorientated and moved. ;/ After resetting xForm or centering pivots to 0,0,0 or to center of objects, was the same situation.

GoZ didn’t match my expectations, but I found GoMax 2.21 plugin and works perfectly.
