How to handle Accessories

I apologize if this is wrong place, couldnt post where i wanted.

My question is: Whats best way to go about making accessories in 3d. Things like chains, bolts, buttons, rope, chainmail, trimming on armor, shoe lases, torn cloth wrapped around an arm, you know the really tough things to sculpt.

Is it better to do these complex objects in my main 3d program maya?

depends on how you like to work.

if you’re faster in Maya, by all means, use Maya.
All of the things you said can be done with zspheres, zsketch, single planes, a quick retopo, mesh extractions.

There are a ton of different ways to achieve the same result, so pick the ones that seem to work best for you.
