There is this Zscript somewhere that makes the window pop up when I pick up some different smoothing/selection brush and I am unable to find the source of that.
I know I can select “skip till next restart” but id like to get rid of it permanently.

Bump! …anyone?
There’s no script that I know of. It may be possible but I will need to look into it.
Well script, setting, preference, whatever cuases it. Worst thing is that it requires selecting “skip” option for every brush type. So seperate for smooth/selection and I believe clip brushes. So that’s 3 popups every day for next couple of years.
I really do not understand what was the thought behind this decision. Every old user already knows this. This pop up will be usefull only to new users and those will be a very small fraction compared to old userbase.
Even then, the new user needs to be reminded only once because after that he already knows it and joins the frustrated experienced user group that will have to deal with pop ups for years to come unless 4.1 fixes that.
I thought by now it is a common knowledge that pop ups are evil and you should avoid them like plague.
If you press control as you select a masking brush, you can avoid the popup. This works for smooth and selection brushes also. Just hold shift, control, or shift plus control as you select your brushes and it wont appear.
yes i want fix for this too …
me 3 …
Oh, that’s kind of annoying for me too
js7026 was actually quite right - holding ctrl+shift does the trick, but still, it is annoying. I’ll keep forgetting 'bout that, I’m sure.
So yeah, BUMP!
I really hope someone makes a script for that, really quick…
Okay, I’ve modified my DefaultZScript, so on startup, it runs a macro that selects every kind of those popup-caller brushes.
It worked, but I still have to click the buttons to skip those warnings, which now show up automatically on ZB startup. XD
Does anyone know what kind of a command should I add to the macro to make ZB automatically click the skip button?
This probably is the wrong place to ask this question, but anyway…
Seriously, there’s too few people concerned about this, and I can’t think why. XD
Also, if anyone’s interested in making their own macro like that - ask, and I’ll give you a step-by-step. Though it isn’t too helpful at the moment. XD
As js7026 wrote (thanks js7026 ), you need to use the proper modifiers when selecting the brush. Since you would need to use the exact same modifiers to make use of the brush, it makes perfect sense that you would press the exact modifiers to select the brush. If you do, the pop up will not show up.
However, if you forget to use the modifiers, then ZBrush will remind you that you will need to use these modifier in order to make use of the selected brush.
I’d be interested in getting that macro.
Many of us don’t use the default ZB UI, so supports tip doesn’t help when you dont switch brushes like that. Also I have made several other custom mask brushes and am now getting pop-ups for those.
Personally, I like the way it’s set up. You want a Mask Brush, hit ‘Ctrl’. There’s the palette with only Mask Brushes in it. Easy to find the one you want. You want a Clip Brush, hit ‘Ctrl + Shift’. There’s a palette with only Clip Brushes in it. Easy to find the one you want…But… …How come when I hit ‘Shift’ to select a Smooth Brush, there’s a palette with all the brushes in it…hmmm.
