How to Export PolyPaint to 3DS Max With GoZ [N00b Question]

Hey guys…

I’m trying to export my model and the paint job I’ve done with Spotlight and PolyPaint to 3DS.

When it exports, all that goes to 3DS is the model. I’m sure that this is normal, I just don’t know how to get it to export my color and texture info too.

Am I supposed to use a Texture Map?

Any help is appreciated.

You need UV’s first. You can use one of the automatic solutions in Tool > UV Map or you can use UV Master (tutorials here). The UV map is exported with the .OBJ automatically. As to the texture, once you have created the texture (Tool > Texture Map > New From Polypaint), in Tool > Texture Map, you first click ‘Clone Txtr’ which will put it in your ‘Texture’ menu. You then have to ‘Flip V’ (flip vertically) in ‘Texture’ menu and then export it.

edit: This is the standard way. I didn’t notice GoZ in the title and I don’t use Max or GoZ, but I’m pretty sure, even with GoZ, you still need UV’s first.

Thanks! I’ve installed UVMaster and am working with it. This seems so much better than the standard UV tools. I really like that we can tell it where to put the seam. That’s awesome.
