How to export multiple separate subtools (not merged but same project) to one OBJ?

Hello! I am exporting my 3D models, and tried to export my project. I clicked export in the tools menu, but when the window popped up asking me to save, I noticed that the OBJ file name was “greeneyes”, one of my subtools that I was on when I clicked export. I haven’t merged these subtools, and don’t want to in case I lose texture. How do I handle this situation?

You must first merge the subtools via one of the methods described in the Zbrush documentation:

http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/polymesh/subtool/

…and export that merged tool. It won’t fuse the geometry. It will only group the subtools for export in the same OBJ. Merge Visible, for instance, creates a completely new merged tool in the tool menu which can be exported, leaving your original tool unchanged.

If there are concerns that keep you from wanting to do this for whatever reason, simply export all the subtools individually, and reload them into a scene in the target application. The Subtool Master plugin has a command to automate this.
