how to copy zrbush sculpt to another obj imported?

Hi,

I modeled one character and exported as obj, i did some sculpt in Zbrush and exported as a displacement map. My uv was opened inside Zrbush with UV plugin.

Now, i need to sculpt this character again, but i’d like to copy the sculpt that i did in the face and neck.

Is it possible? The uv is the same and the polygons also (its the same model)

How should i do this?

thanks,
Carlos

Hi,

I am not 100% sure if I understand your question

but if you want to transfer detail from one model to another, you create a morph target, import the new model and use the morph brush to transfer the detail

m

yes, you understood rightly.

But i don`t know how to use Morph…i found this tutorial:
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Tool:Morph_Target_Subpalette

But how can i open my ztl file and then importe the other obj?

i tried to use “StoreMT” but i couldn’t find a solution.

Can you give me an advice?

thanks,
Carlos

ok

But how can i open my ztl file and then importe the other obj?

open the ztl file, draw it onto the canvas, go to edit mode

switch to the same subdivision level (polycount) as the obj you want to import

go to morph target > storeMT (if you have already stored a morph target in another subdivision level, you have to delete it first)

now go to tool > import

select the obj to which you want to transfer the detail of the neck/head

if the mesh does not have the identical vertex order (which in your case should not be the case as you write your model is the same) zbrush asks you if it should project details to the new mesh.

if the vertex order is identical, zbrush just replaces the existing subdivision level by the imported obj

now you just need to select the morph brush in the brush palette and paint the areas, in your case neck and head

the imported obj should have about the same scaling and position as the ztl geometry you want to replace

if you want to import let´s say subdivision level 1, you can also do that, subdivide it to the level where you stored the morph target and paint again using the morph brush

The subtool palette allow you to import the object you want into the ztl you are working, subtool has the MERGE option, hope this help

ok…i tried and what happened is very bizzare:
[probremaco.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘209315’,‘probremaco.jpg’,1,0))

And i got a bit confused after i imported the obj file…if i work with morph brush nothing happens…

Maybe i’m doing something wrong in the beginning…
I will explain better my situation:
I have an obj model that i imported in Zbrush and sculpted there with subtool (hair, eyes). this model was only a nude character, and i exported the displacement map from zbrush to use in my 3d program.

but then, back in my 3d program, i did the clothes and got some problems rendering, because for example, i increased the chest in Zrbush.

So i decided to model all the character clothes and then import again in zbrush and copy only the sculpt that i did in the face and neck.

So…any ideia about how to solve this?

Thanks a lot,
Carlos

it dont´understand

if you post the ztl and the obj maybe i can help

what you have to understand is the following:

if you export geometry from zbrush, edit it in another 3d-app and reimport the model, zbrush checks:

polycount/vertex order
position, scaling, pivot point

so the best thing to do is not to change these attributes - then reimporting the obj won´t cause any problems

you still may change the shape as changing the shape does not change the vertex order

and yes, you can also change vertex order by adding edge loops etc - but then zbrush will ask you if it should project the detail of the higher subdivision levels during import

if you exported Subdivision level 1 - and if you want to reimport the changed model, you also have to import at Subdivision level 1 - other wise you will have different number of faces, vertices, edges

read the docs, simulate your workflow with primitives to find out, how it works

but at the moment your description just does not give me enough information

ok, thanks.

i’ll try with primitives, i need to learn it before :stuck_out_tongue:
