How to "Connect" Zspheres?

Can Zspheres be connected to form closed loops, like a ring? (pic below)

I tried moving the Zsphere near the root zsphere (shown in red) and it did not auto-weld the mesh (which would be nice!)

Thanks!

Unfortunately no, you cannot. No idea if it is possible through scripting. Might have a look at that… some day

Gotcha, thanks!

The Zif Widget by Digits can do this.

Another good utility by him is Zif Click

Does Zif Widget not “only” weld two zsphere tools together? Otherwise I am of to revisit some old zsphere models

Zif Slick and Zif Click (neither work correctly in 2.0, new version on the way) will allow you to paste the root of zsphere model onto another zsphere model but there is no way to create a “closed loop” as the “Root” sphere can not have a “Parent” by definition.

You can do something like that with a Unified Mesh instead of an adaptive one. Move the last sphere into the first one and make a Unified Skin. You can’t keep moving back and forth between ZSphere’s and a preview mode like Adaptive skinning though (I wonder why?)

A MUCH easier way is to use a cylinder, set the sides to the number of desired sides, and make it hollow. A simple Ring tool can do this too…
Because you have ZSpheres is no reason to overlook what the ‘primitives’ can do…

I suppose that you want obtain something like that

With playing with Initialize regulates of primitives, you will obtain a lot of geometric form  (Initialize)
Free to you to make Unified Skinn at the end (Inventory)
Have happy research
There also another thing than Zspheres

ps
Sorry Stone I have writing during your post

That’s okay Pilou…
(I was too lazy to do the illustration, and I’m glad you weren’t… )

is there any way i could have a help or instructions about zif widjet. thanks
