How to clean Open Edges, DoublePolygons etc?

Hi,

After decimation I’m getting quite messy and erroneus in some places mesh. There are open edges, double polys etc. Is there a quick way to eliminate all those errors? I tried importing decimated mesh in Max and do Welding of nearby points but they’re so messy that this doesn’t work too.Capture.JPGCapture2.JPG

use Zremesher its amazing to use animation and get lowpoly for your object

My guess is that your geometry had problems before decimating and decimation is simply trying to deal with it.
If your geometry is very problematic use dynamesh first in high resolution to avoid losing detail and brush away the parts that are a problem, decimate again if needed and then use decimation.

Zremesher won’t like either problematic geometry, but it can be OK sometimes if the problems are in very small areas. But you need to reproject etc in a longer process and if your geometry is noisy and full or overlapping projecting won’t make it any easier.

Thanks a lot guys, it worked! Solved it by

  1. Redynameshed the Source highres geometry to lose those ugly artefacts
  2. Made a Duplicate of the Source and Zremeshed it to around 50K
  3. Redynameshed Duplicate again but this time with higher resolution for Projecting details from the Source
  4. ‘Projected All’ details back from the Source onto the Duplicate

Thanks a lot!

That’s right steps dear Work
