How to change directory for movie recording?

I like to use ZBrush’s In-engine movie tools to record my sculpting process for models. But I’ve noticed that it makes and saves everything to my Boot drive, rather than the drive ZBrush is installed in. My boot drive is significantly smaller than the install drive, and with the size that record files can get to, I’d like to be able to control the directory in which it will (the best term I can come up with is) bake.

Is there any way I can do this?

Which folder is ZBrush saving the movie to?

That’s the thing. I can’t identify the actual location. It seems to be taking up some kind of temp disk space.

You could try changing the scratch disk path and see if that solves it. Edit the Users\Public\Documents\ZBrushData2018\ZBrushScratchDiskPath.TXT file so that it points to where you want the scratch disk to be. For example, mine is simply H:</b> as I have a separate partition I use for ZBrush and Photoshop scratch disks.

I can’t seem to find this file.

What version of ZBrush are you using?

2018

OK, try this:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (the Windows key+E on keyboard).
  2. Navigate to your C drive, then Users>Public>Public Documents.
  3. The Public Documents folder should have a folder called ZBrushData2018. Open it.
  4. Inside the ZBrushData2018 folder should be a bunch of folders and two text files. One of the text files will be named ZBrushScratchDiskPath.txt. That’s the one you need to edit.
