How to add details to a mesh, using an existing UV map (bump) ?

Hi everyone,

I’m new & i’m discovering a new world of modeling. Please excuse-me for my english (frenchy one)…
I need to realise a specific task. But i don’t know really how to do that… Let’s me explain:

I have a sculture of a women with UVs and an one greyscale map representing patterns on the body. I want to use sub-division level and ‘paint’ or ‘extrude’ using my existing mapped texture to create new details on my mesh. I take a look on brushes but i don’t found one (using existing mapping).
And after i would like to remove flat zones with mask extracting. Long selection on my pattern ? Can i make a selection from an alpha map ?

Any advices ?! Alternates methods ?
Thanks you for your help ^^

selections using alpha maps are handled inside of tool.masking

it sounds like you want to use tool.surface and add a “noise” or mask using a complex map. You can use noise master and tell it to use UVs for application of a map etc. There are tutorials for doing this on the main page I believe. If not you should be able to find them in the zClassRoom.

Hope this helps.

Done!
