How much different will ZBrush 4 be?

Hello,

I’m completely new to ZBrush and eager to learn it, but now as I surfed a little I learned that there is much talk about the new upcoming release.

How much different will this be from the current version? Will I be wasting money and effort, if I start learning with the current one, or are the fundamentals still the same?

Thanks!

I have no affiliation with Pixologic, but I seriously doubt they’re going to make the new version so drastically different that we have to relearn how to use it. That said, ZBrush is still a relatively young program, so we’re sure to see some workflow differences. If you’re eager to start learning, then I’d say go ahead and buy it so you can start having fun.

Besides, all of the training material available (books, dvds, etc) are for the current version and it will take a while for publishers to catch up once Z4 is released.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I doubt it too, I guess I start learning the basics right away. I probably wont get very far before the Z4 release, anyway

Learn as much as you can as early as you can would be my advice, I can’t see any major interface changes between 3.12 and 4.0. The new features like GoZ and decimation master shouldn’t be to difficult to master (video’s already up demoing these features already)

I would start out by looking at all Meats Meier videos, they are very good to give you a foundation on Zbrush and whats more they are free :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

check out

for hours and hours of Z fun

Thanks for the link, I will check it out!

I already started learning the basics today with a help of one video kit and since I’m totally new to this sort of thing, it’s really essential to get some tutoring to get started.
The video is of course for the current version, but I also would be rather surprised if the entire philosophy would change with Z4.
