how do you use colormask & backface mask?

Tia

Nobody knows?

Turn the feature on in the Brush palette. (Brush>BackfaceMask or Brush>ColorMask) It’s that simple.

When BackfaceMask is active, ZBrush will only sculpt the portions of the mesh that face toward the camera. Anything facing away from the camera will be ignored, even if the polygons fall within the spherical radius of the sculpting brush.

With ColorMask, ZBrush will automatically use the current polypaint on the model to determine the strength of the editing brush at any given point. Areas with darker polypainting will receive less influence than areas with light color. This masking is instantaneous. As you paint new colors on the surface, the masking will immediately change to reflect the new coloring.

(Both of these features are explained when you hold down the Ctrl key while mousing over them in the interface.)
