How do you sculpt boots?

I’d like to find out if there are any tutorials or if anyone knows a good method to sculpt or create super hero boots for my model? I like the idea of the topology brush but when I split it, I cannot sculpt it??? Thanks!

The easiest way is probably to mask a part of the leg you want to use as your base. At bottom of subtool panel is a thickness setting and Double. Play with them and hit Extract, when happy with the results hit accept.

Okay…thanks for the tip guys.

I made my boot! I loaded my model. I loaded my boot and hit append. However when I go to resize the boot it scales everything??? How do I get the boot to detach from the model? Or scale them both separately? If you look at my picture you can see how it merged both of them together. I can’t seem to figure out how to rescale them separately.
