How do you increase the length of the insert Cylinder? Answered.

Hi, I’m try to increase the length of the insert Cylinder. I am inserting it into a Dynamesh. I am able to place it, but am unable to lengthen it. I can scale it large, small and wonky… I understand if this was a prim i was starting with I could just change it in Initialize. but can you do this with an inserted ? I am very rusty with Zbrush, so bare with me. I am trying to do some hard surface modeling and I am modeling an exo armor helmet. I am trying to create pipes coming from the head that run down the length of the neck. First I am subratcting the mesh to create a channel then I am going to place the pipe, slightly scaled down, in that channel.

How can I do this with a Insert Cylinder? I am going about this the wrong way? :o

Use the ‘Move’ transform and grab the red inner ring on the end…

No worries mate! Ask away.

Don’t forget that you can use any tool that you have created as an insert mesh. You could also have created the long cylinder first then used that as the Insert mesh. You would simply select one of the Insert brushes and in the Brush > Modifiers submenu, click on the MeshInsert Preview icon to select the cylinder.

You can affect the length when first drawing the InsertCylinder too. Click and drag to create the diameter, then reverse the direction you dragged. This will decrease the diameter and increase the length at the same time. The other methods posted are probably better though because they give you more control. The one I posted can be very hard to determine the exact length needed, requiring several tries. What would help a great deal is the ability to ghost the polymesh before drawing an InsertMesh. Currently the Activate Edit Opacity button only works with subtools.

Thanks Zeddicus!
