how do you disable polypaint all together?

Hey guys,

I keep running into this thing where polypaint turns on on my model when i do certain things like, turn a layer on or off. I just dont want any polypaint. It gets old to have to keep on turning it off. Turning it off in the subtool pallete doesnt seem to do the trick, i just want it off all together unless i turn it on. Is this possible?

Hey,
Turning layers on/off will force the “Colorize” button to turn on only when there is Polypaint Information stored on that layer. So not having RGB on while Sculpting is a good idea  Unfortunately it keeps happening to me as well and as far as I know as soon as you painted a single poly there’s no way to actually delete the polypaint.
What I usually do when this happens is just to apply a tiny few pixel big white texture to the subtool … so even if enabling/disabling layers turns on polypaint — if there is a texture assigned to it it will always overwrite the display.

Anyone else has a better more permanent idea ?

I dont know the purpose of it but just Mrgb OFF will do the job or…

campi- yeah i hear ya, but still doesnt fix what im talking about. Like you said polypaint is still stored. I just dont want it applied at all. Not sure why sometimes it does this to some of my subtools.

andreseloy- yes that turns it off, but when i turn a layer on or off it always turns the polypaint back on, which is annoying when i have to keep on turning it off. I just don’t want ti on, and when using layers it is always turning on.

Any ideas?

Yes, this can be annoying and it would be nice if there were a switch in Preferences to turn it off, but, probably not enough people complaining about it for Pixologic to do anything about it. This has come up before in this thread with a couple of work-arounds, but no fixes. I don’t know Script well enough to say for sure, but I was wondering if somebody (COUGH marcus_civis COUGH) could come up with an addition to the DefaultZScript that would prevent the Colorize button from coming on automatically and stay off until pressed.

Nasty cough you’ve got there zber2, I’d advise a trip to the pharmacy.

I’ll look into this issue, though it may need to be addressed in the main program rather than through a script.

I have posted similar question here some time ago http://www.pixolator.com/showthread.php?t=94232 . From answer it seems that developers don’t consider those feature like a bug, unfortunatelly.

Thanks Marcus! You da’ man!

Pixologic, can we do anything about this? I am again at a point i dont even know what to do. My mesh is all black, i have tried filling the objects color material and every layer on my mesh and using subtool master and regular fills. I have tried the flat color too. The only thing that turns it off is turning off polypaint. And every time i switch layers it turns it back on. This is getting so annoying I cant begin to describe it. Can you guys do anything? There seems to be issues with layers and polypaint. Any thoughts on helping me with my model being black?

Katonc,

There are known issues with layers which are being addressed by the development team.

Could you tell me what happens if:

You turn off all layers (set their intensity to 0) and set color to white. Then try Color>Fill Object with RGB on and RGB Intensity at 100. In my experience this will invariably fill the model with white.

Thanks,

Thanks Marcus, ill give this a shot. What i tried was having all the layers fully on and recording when i applied it to white, since i thought each layer could have its own polypaint info. But later when i have a little time, ill try what you said instead and get back to you. Thanks!

Marcus I just tried what you said, turned off all the layers and set to 0, then filled object, it seemed to work, then when i went to trun a layer back on it went black, so i would fill the object it would go back to white, then i would turn the next layer on it would go black and then turn back to white, and this happened on my 5 layers. I was thinking maybe this even fixed it, but once i went into record mode, it all went black again. So I am not sure, it just seems like it is broken and the only way to fix it is to bake it all in and fill the object.

Anyone have UNDO turn on colorize? If I sculpt something, and then hit undo, it turns on colorize. . .

Any way to fix?
