How do you add volume to a thin piece?

Hello all, I am new to Zbrush and I am having an issue of adding volume to a horn. In the picture I simply pull out a piece with snakehook brush > Dynamesh, then I try to add clay with the clay build up brush but it just bends. I assume it is because the layer is so thin but then how would I add volume to a thin piece without the tool bending? Thank you!

Hello @Samsam2020

  1. Use the Inflate brush in conjunction with snakehook to thicken the snakey tendrils.

  2. Reduce your brush radius to a size appropriate for the structure you’re trying to work on, and enable Brush> Automasking> Backface Masking. This will greatly reduce the effect of the brush on a rear facing surface when working on two surfaces very close to each other.

Some brushes will simply be unsuitable for fine detail work on structures that delicate. Experiment with others.
