How do I smooth faceted normals in Zbrush?

I have imported a .obj file into zbrush from Maya but the normals are shading all faceted. How do I smooth the normals in Zbrush?(similar to using snoothing groups in Max or average normals in Maya)

I have been looking in the UI for almost an hour and can’t find the feature.

thanks

It’s not possible to smooth the normals in Zbrush yet. I think I’ve read somewhere that in 2.5 you’ll be able to smooth the low-poly normals, but I can’t remember where I read it.

thanks. solves the headache!

I don’t know if you’re doing low-poly work or not, but here is a quick trick to get a decent look at you’re textures without the faceting/shading getting in the way.

Go to your materials, then select flat color. This will blow any sort of shadow information from Zbrush realtime lighting off of your model, and allow you to see everything unobstructed. I find this is good to get a better peak at my textures, and even sometimes wireframe manipulation. But I don’t know what you’re needing smooth normals for, so that’s just a suggestion.
