Hi all,
thanks for your time.
Q: I am modeling a head and want to use a photo of a head I got off the net as reference to model from is there a way I can do this in zbrush like i would in 3ds max for example with transparency and an image plane?

there got to be some other more efficient ways to do it…but here:
grab a plan tool and while in the edit mode apply your ( texture or reference image on it…a side image SQUARE)…get out of edit mode…start a poly sphere or what so ever …the image plan will be dropped as pixles…a background and you can model with sphere…
This may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but when I worked on my laptop I used a program called ‘GhostIt’ (Free) in combination with Irfanview. Basically, open the image with Irfanview and then, using GhostIt, lock the window ontop of your Zbrush window and set it’s transparency to something reasonable to work with.
hi guys
probably simple but how do you apply an eye texture to a sphere so it maps correctly?
i have a sphere but when i apply a texture its in the wrong location and also needs scaling, any ideas please??
Ok cheers guys i;ll give them both a go thanks
Hi
you can import an image onto an image plane and use it as reference in the back while you work, or you can import 2 images (front and side) and use them to build a 3d model from, is that what you mean?
steve
guys
can anyone please help here? i have a texturing model ive polypainted and have a skin material 04 on it.
buttons have other material and shoes other material.
problem is now i have a sphere for an eyeball and ive mapped a texture onto it using uvp and it works fine BUT when i switch to toyplastic or any other material my other tools also do the same so i lose my polypainting! please help here if you can?
also what is the best material to select to stimulate fabric for clothing?
i tried doing this but when i load the texture into the texture palette, nothing happens. do you need to append the sphere to the imageplane tool?
the only way i could get it to semi work was to click fill layer in the texture palette. but this, obvioulsy, places the texture on the entire document, not on just the imageplane.
Once you got the image loaded in, just go to Tool/Texture and select that image … bingo
