How do i make it so i can divide more?

Im trying to create an entire figure but i can only divide up to 8 times. somebody please tell me how to make it go higher. im at a little over 1 million polygons now.

Check in your preferences…the Mem. Slide the memory setting up to at least 1024 and compact your memory. You have to have a lot of memory(ram) available.2-4 gb

i have the compact memory up to 4096 and im still not getting anything. is there anything else i can do? any suggestion would be great because i just got ZBrush so im probobly just doing something completely wrong.

Set Prefs–>Mem–>Max poly per mesh to 6 or so and try dividing again.

And dont take your compact mem to 4096. Keep it at about 3/4th of your total RAM. Like if you have 2GB then set it to 1600-1700 and so on.

dont set the compact mem on 32bit os over 2048 and change the preference–>mem–>maxpolypermesh slider to 6 or whatever. (that means how many polygons you want to allow 1= 1million, 2= 2million etc)

–edit–

havent seen the post before.

that still doesnt work any other suggestions? im working on a 3 gig memory. do you have to make the tool a sertain way or something? and how do a save a zbrush image so that i can put it in here?

the preference–>mem–>maxpolypermesh slider should fix the problem, if its at ten, you should be able to divide ten times (memory permitting). Maybe an old restart of your machine after changing the settigs will work it out, it has worked wonders for me in the past.

If it all fails, i’d probably export the mesh out of zbrush at lowest level, subdivide it in your 3d app, import and begin. not ideal i know, but a work around.

are you sure you have only reached 1million polygons? maybe its 10 million.

polycount is the same thing right? and acctually im not even at a million im at 688000. im trying to get a picture on here so that i can show you how little detail i am able to put in in especialy the eylids.

maybe there is a limit of just 8 levels at all. i never needed 8 levels.

are you sure you have edited this “preference–>mem–>maxpolypermesh” to 6 at least?

heres a picture of what i was able to do. i cant go any farther than this in detail.

i dont know why i cant put pictures on here something must be wrong i wasnt even able to post anything before.

  1. use the edit button, you dont have to start a new post.

  2. put the image on imageshack.us or whatever and link it.

  3. i have checked zb3 and there is no limit for the sub-d levels. it seems you havent changed the things we said.

edit

do you get a warning message when you try to divide?

…and you click on ‘upload image or file’, then ‘browse’ and finally ‘upload’…

im using z2 and im pretty sure i changed the right thing but here is a link to what im working on since i cant seem to be able to put it on a post. http://img364.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2ot8.png yes i do get a warning messege. what does that mean?

  1. this pic doesnt give any informations :stuck_out_tongue:

  2. it looks not like 600k polys to me.

  3. is that a polymesh at all?

  4. why do you use zb2? zb3 is free for “customer”

that warning message means that you arent doing what we saying. read what we wrote and change it.

i just want to be sure you have set this correctly.
