How do I load all alphas?

Hi all,

I have a bunch of alphas I want to load but it seems zbrush only loads around 10 of them. Is there a preference setting I can change to fix this?

You should put any alphas that you want to use in the Zbrush\Startup\alphas folder instead of the Zbrush\Zalphas folder. Use caution though. If there are too many, Zbrush tends to vomit all over itself and crash. I think there’s a setting you can change for how many files it can handle, but I haven’t bothered to look it up yet.

I do have my alphas currently stored in Startup/Zalphas but only a handful show up, looks like I’m looking for that magic setting that says how many it can load.

Are they all the same format ? I believe they have to be greyscale psd files. If the are RGB they may not show up.

yep they are all greyscale psd files.

They don’t necessarily have to be psd’s. I’ve got a ton of jpg’s in my zbrush/alphas folder, and all I have to do is import whichever I want. It can be a pain if you’re using a lot of alphas, but for just a few throughout a sculpt it’s not that bad.
