How do I increase the image resolution of ZAppLink to phtoshop? [Answered]

Hello everybody,

I just started using ZAppLink with ps for more the advanced texturing of a model I am working on. The function seems pretty straight forward and effective but I can’t figure out how to increase the resolution of the image/s that appear in PS. As I have some fine detail already done with polypaint in ZB I would like to be able to zoom right in and make changes in PS and retain this detail back in ZB.

I’m confident that I could find a work around for this issue but it would be nice if there was an option to simply adjust the res to my preferences.

Thanks for any help.

Use a larger document size in ZBrush. You can change the document size through the options in the Document palette.

Marcus,

I did actually try this. I set the width and height to a higher resolution and started a new document, then drew my current tool onto the canvas. When I activated ZAppLink the image in PS was the right resolution but the tool itself had been scaled right down so when I zoomed into it, it still had the same amount of pixels as before giving me no more detail of my polypaint information.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Thanks.

Did you ‘Zoom’ out to see the whole document before you drew the tool on the canvas?

Remember that if you increase the size of the document in ZBrush you may not see the whole of it if the zoom is set to actual size. You will need to adjust the zoom settings in the Document palette (or Zoom palette for ZBrush 4) before placing your model, to be sure your model is a good size on the canvas.

EDIT: ah, thanks zber2.

Yep, that did the trick. Thanks guys!
