how do I increase a dynamesh's resolution

I have a tool that I converted to a dynamesh at resolution 128. As I work I’ve found I need more points for smaller details. I should have converted at 256 or higher but I assumed it would be easy to “re-dynamesh” at a higher res later. Turns out how to do that isn’t exactly obvious.

Thanks ahead of time for your help.

move the slider to whatever resolution you would like.
make any change to the mesh and redynamesh and the new generate mesh will have the resolution you now have set.

awesome I’ll try that. subdividing did the trick for now.

I think that’s the best way to go about it actually. Use dynamesh with the lowest resolution that you can in order to build out the main forms, and then turn it off and subdivide when you go to create the smaller details that don’t change the silhouette. It’s the best of both worlds.

That’s a very interesting post. See, I was under the impression that once you’ve chose to dynamesh something, it was forever a dynamesh until you qRemeshed or something. I didn’t know you could actually simply toggle it off. When you do that is it a normal polymesh3d only now with your dynameshed topology?

Yup. It’s actually always a regular polymesh, having dynamesh turned on just causes it to be retopologized everytime you update by ctrl+dragging
