How could I add more detail to an specific zone or area?

Hello. I know how to do this in 3DSMAX, but I don’t know if this is the workflow in ZBrush.

I don’t want to make unnecesary subdivisions of all my volume, because I want to make some specific details only in a little zone or area.

Could I select an area in some way and make some more subdivisions?. The problem is that I have two levels of subdivisions and the apply for the whole volume and can’t be incremented.

I thought that the times I could subdivide the geometry was infinite or limited by my system. I’m a bit lost. And what you’re reading determines that I’m a newbye in Zbrush.

So, I’m trying to act as if I was wroking with 3DSMAX and I’m thinking that this is not the way.

I’ve trying to apply “Subdivisions” and “Dynamesh” to a group I created and to a concrete area, hidding the rest with a mask, but I can’t do one and neither the other if I don’t make these operations over the whole volume., creating unnecesary geometry.

Could you indicate me (via referrence, tutorial…) the way to increment the detail only in the desired area of a whole volume?.

Thank you very much in advance.

Oh, I think I an answer myself. I have discovered right now, a few minutes ago.

1st).-I create a polygroup with a mask, selecting my desired area.
2nd).-Geometry->Level of subdivisions->select the previous level of subdivisions.
3rd).-Now you can press the “Subdivide” button.

And in this way, you can get more polygons to your desired area, without affect the rest of the volume.

Sorry for posting this thread.

Regards.
