How can I spread geometry more evenly?

Hi all, hoping someone can help me a bit as this is my first proper go at using Zbrush having watched a number of tutorials and gotten a bit stuck. Basically I’m adding detail to a high-poly T-rex model that will later need to be textured, rigged and animated (in 3ds Max), but am having problems with the skin detailing due to the poly density being far lower in certain areas than others (the head neck and legs are all fine, but the main body and tail needs to have to sub-division up to 6 which is putting me at close to 11million polys which feels a bit excessive).

Is there a way of adding more poly density to certain areas or shall I just cary on as I am? Cheers, Rhodri. Ps. I have no idea what the different colours are for in frame mode, should they all be the same?

You ran into a problem by partially dividing the model. That resulted in your two different mesh densities, and the triangles at the places where the two densities meet. You got this by dividing while part of the model was hidden or masked.

It’s better to break a model into multiple SubTools rather than to partially divide a single mesh.

Doh! Thankyou so much for your reply, I would have just kept on going as I was otherwise. Luckily my 3ds Max habbit of saving every 30mins comes into it’s own here  Back I go to before I broke it!
