I’m trying to make arms for a model I’m creating. I made one arm and am trying to mirror it. However, when I try using the “flip” or “mirror” options on the object, the results are an object with partially tranparent parts. Why is this, and what is the correct process for mirroring an object? Thanks to anyone who reads and responds!
In Zbrush, most people model both “halves” of the model at the
same time. By pressing the “X” button Zbrush will model a mirror
image of what you are modeling. (Z & Y will mirror aswell)
You can add and edit Zspheres the same way. When you start to
edit the mesh sometimes you lose symetry. Then to fix the model
you can always go to [tools] [deformation] [resym]. There are two
different rypes of resym, if one doesn’t do the job try the other one.
Also if FULL RESYM wasn’t acheived you can drop down to a lower
[geomerty][level 1,2,3,…] and rerun the resym until it reaches FULL
SYM.
One more thing, say you like the way the left half looks but not the
right side… then you can mask off the left side and then run the resym.
Zbrush will make the right side match the masked side.
I’m not even sure if you can do what your wanting to do. The only
way I could think of would be with multimakers and those are not
fun to play with unless you understand them. Which I haven’t, and
I’ve tried quite a bit with little success. Good Luck.

…“Clone” your object, and after use the Modifiers/Deformation/Mirror
Mark each object and at the end when all is at the place make a polymesh

Thanks to everyone for replying. I’ve actually tried to clone and mirror the object, but everytime I do, the result is a reversed object that I can see through as I rotate it. I’ve included a picture to demonstrate the result. Anyone know why this happens? What am I doing wrong? Thanks again.
We don’t see your first object!
Are you sure that all the object is entierely visible in the “Space world” of Zbrush or that is not to big ?

ps make small images for not is published on the Up Menu or make attachment
(just not press “place image in your post” so your image will be attached at your post like follow
(when the image attached is pressed the normal size reapear
Thanks yet again for the reply. I’ve created a new picture to illustrate my problem more clearly. The arm on the left is the original, the arm on the right has been cloned and mirrored. Notice how the fingers are kind of distorted and transparent on the right arm? I get these sorts of results when I attempt this process.
…I don’t know what is the problem
Maybe re make another try with another object and tell us if the same arrive

Somehow your normals are getting flipped. This turns the object inside out, so to speak.
Press Tool>Display Properties>Flip to reverse the normals so that they face outward again.
Success! That’s what I’ve been trying to do! Thanks to Aurick, Frenchy, and TomLong for all the help and suggestions.
