House of 1000 Corpses

Wooohoooooo…

God bless America…

Ok, so this film has been around for a while in the States, and maybe here in Blighty also, but i don’t get out much…

There’s never much talk about influences on this forum, albeit film, music etc etc…

So i thought it would be kinda cool if anyone out there wants to list any influence’s in there current productions/artwork/music etc…

After seeing 1000 corpses i did think that Rob Zombie had ripped off Texas Chainsaw and filmed it in an Oliver Stone ‘Natural Born Killer’s’ stylee…but i loved it all the same…Roll on the sequel(The Devil’s Rejects) that is going to star the baddest mutha’s ever, Ken Foree(Dawn of the Dead) and…wait for it…Michael Berryman(The Hills have Eyes)

Anyway, here’s my starter for ten…film, music and stuff combined…

Tobe Hooper
Skinny Puppy
Giger
Street Trash…(Ken B knows all about this one!)
Xtro
Aphex Twin…hahahaha, my brother!
Front 242
Richard Kern
Bill Moseley… :D(Dog will hunt, dog will hunt!)

Don’t be shy!

LOL…you know it does me great pleasure to see my favs displayed on their own by my peers here  Loved that flick…I think Captain Spalding could have been a whole movie unto himself…I think these days everyone borrows a little bit of magic from previous films…Bill Mosely played his role again just as he did in Texas Chainsaw Massacre II…“Lick my plate you dog d##k” LOL…“Leatherface, you bi#ch hog…you messed up my Sonny Bono wig do”… just classics!!! Glad to hear about Ken Foree too…he is great actor imho…loved him in Reanimator as well…

House of 1000 Corpses though I think could have been divided up into several movies…there was enough material there availabe imho…and Cheri Moon was a hottie and for me…I am and will always be in love with Karen Black…even at her age she is just about as hot as ever!!!(Loved her best in Trilogy of Terror)

Another good flick to look into along these genres that is somewhat current is Wrong Turn…and another good one that I really like pretty much was 28 Days Later…very much akin to the current Dawn of the Dead…(and you know I am still droolign about Dawn of the Dead)…

The only thing though that I will add to a list of current flicks…is The Passion of Christ…

The Passion, is the most painfully realistic movie that I have ever sat thru…I can’t say it was enjoyable…that was not its intent…but it is the only movie that I have sat thru that I really got upset to this level in…was like watching a close friend and loved one being tortured for two hours in front of my very eyes. I wept five minutes into the movie and it finally subsided several hours after coming home. Really hit me close to my heart…I am glad to have worn dark sunglasses when exiting my seat at the theater. I hope and pray it gets in there for the Oscars…I can think of only two reasons that it wouldn’t make it to the Oscars but I wont discuss that openly for fear of offending some people here on the forum…will gladly discuss it via email or pm’s though…

Lemme know if ya’ come across anymore news or goodies to be popping their heads up at the theaters …I think in August Alien vs Predator is supposed to hit the big screen.

Ron

Hehehehe,

Hey Ron,

Ya know i just had an inkling that you’d be feelin’ this thread… :)…and i was right!, in my small mind anyway!

I haven’t seen The Passion of Christ yet, but alot of friends are saying that it’s an amazing work of film…and emotions. :+1:

Ya know after seeing 1000 corpses, it does bring home the fact there are a lot of talented actors/actresses out there that establish a cult status from basically starring in B-movie’esque film’s like 1000 corpses, and actually become ‘bigger than Hollywood’ stars…

I have more respect for Bill Moseley, Karen Black, Sheri Moon, Sid Haig, Ken Foree etc etc than say someone like Michael Douglas…it’s not so hard, is it?!

Give me Texas Chainsaw anyday!

“They make…headcheese”

You might wanna try internet radio while you work , let someone else pick and switch the songs while you paint…

Rant Radio, and Digital gunfire are the 2 stations I like the most…

There are quite a few industrial stations, plus its legal and free

I listen to music constantly when working, Rant radio is fun announcers sometimes from netherlands and germany… canda and USA also… kind of fun

anyways…

have a good one

Hey Polaris…

Well out of my list i’m very surprised that you like the genius that is Skinny Puppy!!!.. :+1:

I kinda lost track a little with the industrial scene lately, not that there was ever really a big scene here…

Just grabbed this…in case you didn’t know…

" To follow up on earlier reports at Release, more Skinny Puppy live dates have been confirmed for Europe. They will perform club gigs in Paris on July 11 and in Amsterdam on July 13. A Dour, Belgium, gig is confirmed during the July 15-18 festival. The London date earlier reported is now set for July 19 (not the 20th). This info might affect some people’s travelling plans, we guess.
Some dates in America will precede these festival dates with Chicago on June 16 and Philadelphia on June 23. The North American release date for “The Greater Wrong of the Right” on SPV America is scheduled for May 25, 2004. /Alex Veronac"
