Hot do I create single normal map from subtool?

I’ve searched this forum and the answers I find tell me to use the zmapper, which is no longer present in 3.5

When I lower the geometry of each subtool and create a normal map, I get a normal map for each.

Isn’t there a way to create a single normal map from the sub tools?

I mean, for me to get a normal map, I lower each sub tool to it’s lowest division and hit “create normal map”.
The end result is a normal map for each tool.

How do I make a single map, with all the normal maps combined?
The UVs are laid out to not overlap.

What I do, is put all subtools to the lowest subdivision, then merge them.
I’ve exported this tool as an OBJ, and I re-import it then append it to the bottom of the subtools.
Where do I go from here?
Am I supposed to merge the high res subtools into one object?

Or map I stuck generating a map for each, then merging them in photoshop?

I have been having this problem since switching to 3.5. my current workaround is to stitch the many files together in photoshop, very painful but it does work.

would be great if this were addressed in an update. (able to render from multiple subtools into a single texture).
