I’m sure if you have used zbrush for longer than an hour you know the hotbox freeze bug thing. I missed a client deadline yesterday because of it. I did the same simple fix 5 times and ever time it froze.
The funny thing is you sometimes you can save the zbrush doc by closing from the tool bar but not the tool.
I hope this is fixed in zbrush 4 or sooner.
Sorry for sounding like a bitch but this problem has been around for a long time and no fix. whats the deal?

sounds like a system problem, not an application problem.
but just incase…what are you settings in your preferences for mem allocation…what are you system specs? etc, etc, etc…
I never freeze Zbrush…unless I try to do something crazy, like show 90million polygons in one subtool.
I’m sure its interface problem . It happens on any poly count. This mesh is less than 2 million.

It always when you middle click to fast. 3 clashes so far today
god someone shot me , its like walking a tight rope . One week its fine the next its totally ****ed.
You are speaking of the middle click. Then just to know, do you have a dedicated driver for your mouse and did you bind some specific action to the mouse buttons? Did you create a profile for ZBrush?
Knowing more about your hadware/software may help to find what generate these crashes.
If you use the space bar to open the menu, do you have the same bug?
Space bar sometimes freezes but not as frequent. Though it hasn’t been mentioned as much
I have 4 main crashes / freeze
I you space and drag too soon it freeze. Same as 1.
Sometimes if I have parts of the mesh hidden and mask something.Then try to flip or blur the mask it crashes fully.
If I unhide a hi res sub tool (500k up) randomly it crashes.
If I middle click to open the hotbox and drag to soon it freeze with the interface behind it.
Its really weird today I have only crash once. I left my machine all night no restart with zbrush open and it crashed straight away .
I’m not surprised since it was probably still awaking up.
Since its been ok but I have not been in such a hurry as yesterday.
I also disabled my middle button on my wacom pen. The buttons design is quite slack. I think the mix of the loose button and Zbrush not liking the hotbox being opened/shut quickly does not help.
Surely the hot box thing can be fix because I have spoke to a lot of people having the same problem. I can recreate hundred times over, if I get chance I’ll do screen capture video .
