Horse of a different colour

Very cool! The way you presented your work reminds me a little of Aaron Sims style, very nice :+1:

Keep it coming!

So amazed about how cool this looked! I’m currently banging my head trying to get my models and texture to export properly to another program to make a render there… Now I see that it doesn’t seems to be neccesary

I’m still a bit noobish but is that only one material? Or is there a bump and a color map? Or is all the small ā€œbumpinessā€ geometry? If it’s a bump and a color map I have got to find out how to combine them =)

This was the best in sooo long and truly inspiring!

thats awsome!!! i love the amazing details and the crazy render, the concept drawing is amazing too, cant wait to see you in action in the near future

Brilliant design and model. Love the pocess too.
I’d really love to know how long each indivdual process took?
Sorry if this question has been asked before, I could’nt locate it.
Thanks

Great model and very informative step by step images ,would

like to see more like that on this forum! Can“t wait to have a

look at the photoshop phase.:+1: :+1: :+1:

Very cool Neville…
wish we could see what else you’ve been doing with zbrush… where there’s one there must be many more… hmm.

great looking beast, i love the look into your workflow with the beginning thumbnails and such. render looks superduper!

your break down in work flow made me relize were i went wrong with mt Strife ā€œMorning Stretchā€ Model. i need to do more box modeling of the forms, to give myself better geometry at the start, to avoid having to over inflate and stretch the mesh into impossible to smooth shapes, and have a clearer concept before starting the modal as well, so i don’t have to back track. i was wondering what number of pencil you were using on the velum to create your concept sketch.
fantastic work and flow.

awfully cool!!!

Can’t even add a comment to that!! Brilliant!!

Thanks for the work breakdown. Very helpful.

edit

I just got my Concept Design 2 today. Really great stuff in it.

your scketch concept is amazing, and the way you aproach to the form is simple but effective, the final result is amazing…nice work

This is just awesome. I own the majority of your Gnomon DVDs (my favorites of my library), any plans to do one for Zbrush? I noticed Alex poke his head in here too. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Great stuff.

Neville,
I was alos thinking, you need to break up the specularity on this horsey. Break up the surface where you have greasy and rough skin. Meaning if you paint a B&W map, white where you wan it the most shinny and black where its dull (greys are where you get transition). Load it as a Specular map and render. You’ll find you can get a tremendous amount of variation in the surface as you do on your traditional sculptures .

Also we need to get you using modo & Zbrush! I designed a bitchen cafe with it. Used the amazing modeler and render to start out a big Viscomm sketch which I later gave to my students as a class assignment when i was teaching in Israel.

Talk soon.

let it go

I’m glad to see more of your wonderful work on this thread…
I love to see all the steps…
