High Poly Object wrap into Circle (Possible?)

I wonder if there’s a way to take a high poly mesh object or brush wrap around into a circle. I know you can take a three piece and save a multi-mesh, but I’m thinking about just one object and wrapping it around. All the way around. Not like using the Matchmaker Brush.

I know I can do it in blender but I’m thinking that zbrush must have some way of doing it. Make it snap to a curve or something.

I’m new to zbrush and making much progress in learning and this is just one thing that’s on my mind.

Not as such, but it depends on what you want to “wrap”. There are alternate ways to get to the same place, like using dynamesh to carve the shape you want out of an existing cylinder, or using a mesh insert brush with a curve shape for simple repeating shapes, or displaceing from a textured alpha.

The general answer is “no you cant do this” in the exact manner you describe, but the more specific answer is there may be many ways to achieve the effect you want, depending on the exact nature of what you want to do.

I’m thinking about making a ring. Drawing it flat and then making it bend around to go on a finger.

I’ll look into displacement maps and see if I can make that work.

Don’t overlook radial symmetry (Transform >Activate Symetry > [R] for Radial) which allows you to sculpt or stamp alphas on cylindrical forms with repeating patterns.

Otherwise I would need more information about the nature of your subject to make better suggestions. A single, unbroken subject like I dragon or something, I think most people would just sculpt in.

I’m thinking of ornate rings and your right, probably best done by sculpting.

I was looking up blender and that doesn’t actually bend things round like I thought it did either.

I’ve found a way to do what I wanted to do. Basically I extract geometry out of a cylinder with an alpha.
