High Poly Count but SDiv greyed out?

Hello - beginner here. I made a polymesh from a zspheres tool and have been working on it since then as a polymesh… i have a couple questions…

a) i have ‘creases’ between the torso and lower body that are approximately where a new zsphere was, but i can’t smooth them out… what’s the issue here? can i get rid of them? pic url: http://bh.polpo.org/bodymodel2.bmp

b) note that the top part of the Geometry window is greyed out and SDiv is 1 but I have a fairly high poly count (280k) - why am i unable to lower my poly count (for say, easier posing) and is there a way to do it or did i screw something up long ago?

Those creases are most likely due to intersecting polygons caused by bad ZSphere construction. See the FAQ section on ZSpheres here at ZBC. There’s no way to fix them, short of retopology.

Regarding the other item, did you use Tool>Adaptive Skin>Make Adaptive? Or did you export and then import again? The latter method only retains the current subdivision level. You might be able to get the levels back by using Tool>Geometry>Reconstruct Subdivision.
