hiding parts of zsphere sculpt

hello,
i am modeling a female in zspheres, i want to isolate and view only the hands ( the body gets in the way).
how do i hide everything but the hands, and then how do i make everything visible when i need to ?

Hey! There are two ways to go about it, depending on what you want to do. If you want to just isolate something but not delete the rest of the mesh, hold ctrl and shift and then drag over the part you want to isolate and it’s all you will see. To see everything again, hold ctrl and shift and just click anywhere not on your mesh and it will all be visible.

If you want to isolate a certain portion and delete the rest, for example if you are doing a bust and want a more classic feel, choose one of the Clip brushes and do the same thing I mentioned earlier.

thanks,
that works great on the mesh, what do i do if i want to do this to the ZSpheres, is that possible?

Shift+Ctrl+drag over the area you want to show (green selection) will work fine with zspheres too. You can also press Alt (red selection) so that the selected area is hidden.

Shift+Ctrl+click the background to show everything again.

thanks for responding,
when i hide the body by ctrl+shift-click drag over the hand, green rectangle,
using the zspheres, it works fine but when i ctrl shift click on the background i alternate between the body and the hands,i cant get them both back, and to get it to work on the mesh i have to ctrl shift clk drag over the entire mesh, but it will work on the mesh, i do get both back?
maybe i have something on that’s not supposed to be on, i have re init. several times , i still get the same problem,
thanks,
foo

It sounds as though you are Ctrl+Shift+dragging - that will reverse the visibility. Make sure it’s just a click.

You might try adjusting the Preferences>Interface>Click Time and Click Distance to see if that improves things for you. You can save the new settings by pressing Shift+Ctrl+i.

that was it,
thanks to all for responding,
much respect,
Foo
