Is there a way to hide geometry in topology mode ? I need to get into tight spots e.g. between hood and jacket / into and under sleeves and also bridge between spaces, can only go over what’s outer facing.
Hope that makes sense.

You can do it if you use the “Append ZSphere” method for creating topology. In other words, you append a ZSphere as a subtool to the mesh you want to create topology for and then turn on Tool>Topology>Edit Topology. You will then be able to create new topology by clicking on the other subtool(s). To hide parts, simply switch to the subtool you want to hide part of and use Shift+Ctrl+drag to hide, then switch back to the ZSphere to continue creating topology.
Thanks that’s a great help. Thing is, can I save what I’ve already done or do I need to start again ?
I think you could delete the mesh (in the Tool>Rigging sub-palette), append the zsphere as a subtool and then continue.
