Hidden then Unify- and back to normal

If I have hidden a portion of my model, then used the unify command in the deformation menu- how do I “unhide” the rest of my model so that it returns to proper proportions?

Picture 9.jpg

(as you can see… the face was unified with the body hidden- but when trying to unhide the body, it is all thrown out of wack)

***the reason why I am unifying a certain portion of the model is because it is the only way I can get the symmetry to work- I need the symmetry to work on the face, and the unify command seems to be the only option for me to get it to work… I am obviously new, and spent a lot of time on the base model- and have tried multiple ways of getting the symmetry to work…

Hidden portions of the model – as with masked portions – are ignored by deformations. As a result, there’s now way to use Unify for the effect you’re going for.

Instead, hide the stuff other than the head and activate Transform>S.Pivot. This sets the pivot point to the geometric center of the visible mesh. From there symmetry will work fine, as will any deformations. When done, press C.Pivot to clear the pivot point and return to the normal one.
