hezproject problem

hello , i have done the following tutorial and many others like it
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Image_Plane

the problem is that everytime i paint only a certain area gets painted and i end up with the image seen below
http://img37.imageshack.us/i/image1px.jpg/

thats the demo head with a flat shade, im just using some random image i found on the net.
i did not purposely paint that square, but that is the only are that will paint. on another model it will only paint the circle around the eye.

why is this happening?

According to this: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=78357
The 3.5 Zproject transpose functionality doesn’t appear to be working anymore.

i appreciate the response. sadly what i am doing has nothing to do with transposing.
zbrush will only allow me to paint that small area, i have not masked anything.

Actually it does since you said you were following the image plane tutorial to project details from an image onto your model. In order to project from an image, you have to use transpose tool. If you just want to polypaint, follow this tutorial instead. http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Paint_It!

I was able to duplicate what you posted by using zproject brush to paint. Don’t use zproject to paint, just use standard brush or other type of brush and turn off zadd.

Good luck, mxdirector.

my problem is specific to project a photo on to a mesh. polypainting works absolutely fine.
but to project a image on some of my models (i stress that it only happens with some of my models not. one of the models included is the demo head) only a single area actually gets painted on.

the image i posted eariler is a model i painted. i am trying to paint the back ground image on to the model. i stress, i have tried painting that whole thing, but only that square area will get painted. there is no mask

Before you paint, covert your demohead mesh into polymesh by pressing the make polymesh3d button under the tool menu. That should get you going.

You should check this thread out just in case, http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=76323.

well that solved it.
i knew it would be something simple i missed.

thank you for all your help, and happy new year to you.
