I want to render a scene with chemical equipments such as glass bottles and liquids in zbrush(not in 3ds max or maya:lol:),but I don’t know which material i should use,and i can’t find glass or water material in ZBrush,as I want to render reflections and refractions and caustics.I’m new to Zbrush, and this is my first post here,I hope I’ve posted in the right section(My english is not very good, sorry). And thanks advance for any help!Cheers!
ZBrush doesn’t render reflections, refractions and caustics. You need a raytrace engine for that and ZBrush doesn’t use raytrace yet. You will have to export to an app that does.
Does this mean I can’t render glass or liquids in ZBrush?
People render glass and liquids in zbrush. You can see transparent glass being used in these vehicle vids:

You can render transparent substances with a reflective quality. But the reflection is a projected image, not a mathematically raytraced calculation. You can find creative ways to achieve the illusion of the effects you’re after, but can’t just turn up a “caustics” slider. Scene rendering in zbrush uses a lot of smoke and mirrors, and requires more creative artistry either in the program or in a composting process.
If you just want to switch on a caustics switch, or have your objects accurately reflect the scene around them with photorealstic quality, you’ll have to render your scene in a program that has those features.
There is no water or glass button. You’ll have to familiarize yourself with the Zbrush materials, the different modifiers, and how to achieve transparency.
