Hi sorry everyone if im posting this in the wrong forum but can someone gimme a suggestion on how i can sculpt the top of the mouth without effecting the bottom everytime i go to move or sculpt the top lip it just it does it to the bottom as if they’re connected … i tried masking but even masking paints over to the bottom… i made the mouth with an opening but i guess i made it a bit too close?

try to uv the object and have a separate uv set for the lower jaw. Then go to polygroups> and polygroup based on uv’s then you can hide the lower or upper jaw.

Another way would be to store a morph target, open up the jaw, create polygroups, then restore the mesh.

If the top and bottom mouth are seperate pieces you can also use topological masking.

Hi i tried doing that but when i tried making the polygroups it does nothing after i click the button am i doing something wrong?

steps i took

i exported out as a new obj at level 1
took it into maya uv mapped the piece and made sure the lower jaw is seperate from the head and fin
loaded zbrush and the tool and reimported the new uv’d obj
then created polygroup based on UV

could the fact that i have the shell and the eyes and the back fins seperate layers effect this?
