Help with UV mapping

Hey guys, I am a newbie and this is my first visit here.

AND I have a huge problem.

I started to sculpt a dragon (and it looks awesome btw) with sculptris, and then I hit the GoZ button and successfully exported it to Zbrush - I found out that it got a total of 6,178,752 polys on it’s lowest subdivision. But when I use the “UV Map” button and then click " create ->> GUVtiles" (with resolution 2048) it tells my that it will take 8+ facking hours to UV map this ****.

And I got a pretty good computer too!

So seriously, do I really have to wait that long for it to UV map? Is it normal?
Is it maybe because I don’t have any subtools on my models or?

I have also tried with UV master, but when I click on “Unwrap” it tells me that it don’t got enough memory to unwrap, and that I should split my model into more subtools.

Now am I missing something here? Do I need to buy a facking 20,000$ industry computer just to UV map a completely normal model or am I REALLY missing something here?

Please help & thank you

I would not work with such a high poly count. I’m not a Zbrush master, but one way that I can think of to reduce the poly count is to use dynamesh and fiddle with the resolution until you get a more managable poly count without losing your detail and smoothness.

Yeah, generally you don’t want to UV something that has millions of polygons. It’s a massive amount of data for anyone to try and process, and more than likely it isn’t even needed in the first place (if you’re using the sculpt itself you have access to polypaint, and if you’re going to use a lower resolution model for film or games then only that needs to have UVs).

The new ZRemesher tool can help give you an awesome mesh that would be in a more acceptable range to UV. You can then subdivide that and project your sculpted details back onto it.

Plugins>Decimation Master or Qremesher should lower the poly count. You could split into subtools. It may have said 8+ hours but taken less than that. I know waiting is intolerable. Er… zremesher
