Help with "MESHUP" :)

Hi!
Ok after tons of tutorials, trial and errors this is my very first model.
I was going to start the second one but decided to actually finish this
one.
:small_orange_diamond: So! What the heck am I going to do with the “MESHUP” around the ears?
As you can see something happened here and I can’t correct it.
“run” around the forum and saw the retopologising and so. Is this the only
way?
Fact:
Don’t have a clean model backup. Only from a very early stage.
I have also “lost” the polygroups along the way. Yes I know there is a lot
of errors in this model but hey, everyone is a first timer once in their life.

Tried to find a good tut/thread about retopo and saw one that almost
!painted" on the “threads/polys” but when I tried, I couldn’t. I created a lot
of triangles instead of quads. well I have to look into that too in a depth.
:small_orange_diamond: Can I retopo this model, even if it has its “complex” pose?

you can retopo…and yes, that is the only way.

what you did was locally subD the area around the ears…you had a mask on, and at your lowest SubD level you hit divide again.

Like you said…we all do it once, eh. Live and learn.

And as to the triangles you get when you retopo…you just need to learn how to better control your topology…that comes with practice as well.

I have gone through a bunch of retopo material and I’m going to
do it for practice and learning.
Can I retopo just the head and get it to the original model?
Can’t find the solution of it anywhere.

yes, you can just retopo the head.

clone out your tool at it’s highest and lowest subD

under rigging when doing topo pick the high, then pick the low in topology

delete the old head points and start a new.

I found just this in the documentatio, but must have done something
wrong.
These are the steps I did (as I understood it :slight_smile: )
:small_orange_diamond: I loaded my tool, drew it on canvas, lowered the subDiv, hit “Clone”
:small_orange_diamond: Increased SubDiv to max.
:small_orange_diamond: NEW document…
:small_orange_diamond: Drew a zsphere, went to “rigging”, chose the model with high SubD.
:small_orange_diamond: Went to Topology, “Select Topology”, chose the LowSubDiv one.
Now I’m lost… :confused:
Do you have a link to a tut? Points? Grrr. (know what a point is and do in Cinema, but have not seen it in ZB)

I tried this one but couldn’t “get it”, saw no lines.
