Hello,
i am quite new to zbrush…
i have a question…
i exported a hair obj file from Poser to zbrush and now for texture i applied it…
but there are transparency texures for hair too… as u know the edges have transparency…
i am not able to fit transparency maps in zbrush… is it possible?
tell me how to put them…
thanks:)
When you apply a texture to a model in ZBrush, you’ll find a Transparent option in the Texture palette. This will make any parts of the texture that are pure black (0,0,0) transparent. Any shade other than pure black will remain solid. So as a rule this is not something that works well with Poser’s hair alphas.
You’ll get better results by sculpting your own hair. Thanks to the high polygon counts that ZBrush makes possible, you can do some really nice stuff, which will look a lot more realistic than transparency.
thanks man i will try it…
and sculpting own hair is really hard… especially to get reality like of that poser hair:)
anyways thanks!
Maybe it’s just me, but I have yet to see Poser hair that looks really realistic. Which is why the great Poser artists almost universally render their characters bald and paint the hair in Photoshop.
hey man you are right…
hey and thanks it worked but aurick i have another question with transparenccy…
now i have it in transparency and hair looks fione with transparency map…
but now i wanna make the mesh like its seen in transparency mode…
so that later i can remove transparency map and put my hair texture in it…
you have any idea how to do that…
thanks…
or maybe can we put multiple textures in single obj file??
thanks

If I understand what you’re trying to do, you would need to subdivide the hair to a high number of polygons. Then apply the alpha and use Tool>Masking to mask based on the alpha. Then you can remove the alpha, hide the unmasked polys and delete them. After that you can apply your texture and convert it to polypaint.
Hello, i still have the problem.
i think yu git it right what i wanna do…
i have hair exported from poser and now wannamake in zbrush…
i has transparency map and color map…
so when i put transparency map the hair shape is fine but as soon as i put off the shape is somewhat squared…
now i cannot put both textures together in zrbush…
so i want the shape of my hair as seen with transparency map…
when i used the method of masking said by aurick still gives problems…
see the image ive attached…
it will give u better idea!

after you “mask by alpha”
hit “hide PT” at the bottom of tool>masking
Then you can delete hidden.
you also don’t need to start another thread each time.

Please don’t make 4 different threads for the same problem. It gets confusing.
I’ve merged the threads I’ve spotted.
